You know what; I have seen thousands of poorly designed websites and websites where not an ounce of effort was put into making the site user friendly or search engine friendly - and you know what happens with those sites? Nothing. Nada! Zip.
And why would they want to...
. . .do you honestly think that transferring that fancy glossy brochure into a website is going to have new customers breaking your door down? Nope. Sorry - the 2 different media serve different purposes and if you don't get your website as user friendly and search engine friendly as possible - quite frankly . . . your website ain't worth the screen it's displayed on.
The bigger problem, though, is that most people who "sell" the services haven't got a clue of the work that is required. Second to that is the buch of numpties hidden away in a darkened studio where they talk in some sort of gibberish and wouldn't understand a 'real world' conversation if one jumped out of their iPhone. You know, the sort of people who'd use the latest instant messaging system to contact the bloke sat opposite them - because it's cool...
