Search Engine Optimisation Scam 2 | Website Marketing Scam Tests | SEO Scams

Using an existing clients website, I opted for a listing in a so-called highly ranked directory that supplied directory feeds to multiple “top-ranked and extremely popular” directories online. The numbers (of monthly searches) that the salesperson was insisting they received every month for specific key phrases sound extremely promising. The cost of membership of that directory was just short of £100. So I suggested “we'd” give it a go.

That was six months ago and the “client's” website has yet to see a single click through and the “client” has yet to have a single enquiry from anybody searching on those directories.

I advise the “client” to make contact with the salesperson. So back in October of 2008 an e-mail was sent and a few days later, a telephone message was left for the salesperson to get in touch. Outcome: They did not respond.

In December 2008, at the end of the pre-arranged six-month review period the company was supposed to get in touch with the client to discuss how well their advertising had performed.

Guess what... They did not make contact.

Early in January 2009 the same company phoned the same “clients” offering additional services for additional cost. The clients told this representative about the previous experiences, and that they would not purchase a 'beeping' thing from that company and insisted that the sales representative from the original sale got in touch.

It is now the end of January 2009 and the company has not been in touch.

£100 spent on Website Marketing with zero results.

Actual value: £0.00
