Claim Your Business Listing
| Quick SEO Tips - Google Maps and Local Business Centre |
Many businesses are listed on Google Maps that were not put there by the business owners. Many were inherited by Google when the integrate data from 'acquired' data sources and, althought IMO it is wrong to use unverified data, the listings go out as search results.
It's Your Business Listing - But You Must Claim It
Yes, you must claim your listing because if you don't and someone else does, they will be able to use your business name as an extra business listing and pull people to their website under false pretences.
It is easy to claim and take control of your business listing:
- Log into your Google account.
- Click on 'Local Business Centre'.
- Add A New Listing
- Enter the business name as it appears in the listing you found on Google.
- Enter the address then click 'Next'
- Google will then scan it's data for a business already listed by that name and address and then;
- You will be asked if you want to 'Claim The Listing' and a button to do so will be provided.
- Go ahead and Claim Your Google Maps Listing.
- You will need to complete the verification process as with any new listing, but once compled;
- The listing is yours!
